Photos form Kangerlussuaq Greenland

I went to Greenland to run a half Marathon above the Arctic Cirle
where I ran into Jesper OX3KQ who graciously offered to let me operate the Club station OX2A.

As you can tell from the smile I was having a blast operating the pileups.
The club station has a Kenwood TS-2000 and the antennas, beams and verticals were designed and built by Jesper.

This is the club station located on Black Hill overlooking the airport at Kangerlussuaq.
The platform to the left supports several beams and various wire antennas.

Another view of the airport with signpost in the foreground with directions to Europe and North America.
The pointer on top shows the way to the North Pole...3 hours and 15 minutes.

The two photos above were taken shortly after I helped Jesper put up his Quarter Wave 66 Ft. vertical for 80 Meters.
It wasn't too long afterwards a snow stormed visited Kangerlussuaq which delayed our flight to Denmark by a day.

Preparing the antenna feedpoint and radials. Later that evening I operated CW on 80M with Jesper's antenna.
Back home in Indiana I worked Nigel, G3TXF on 80 when he was QRV as OX5AA during the CQWW 2008 CW contest from OX2A.
It was satisfying to work Greenland from my home QTH knowing I helped to install the antenna Nigel used in the contest.

The feedpoint and radials for Jesper's 80 meter vertical.

Jesper at the controls at OX2A. Jesper works for a Danish contractor responsible for maintaining
the antenna systems and communications equipment at the airport in Kangerlussuaq tasked with tracking domestic and Internation flights.
